Transculturation
A good example of Transculturation is cultural assimilation. Cultural assimilation is when a cultural minority group has to change values, beliefs, behaviors and overall culture. Transculturation and Assimilation has happened various times over US history. In the 1800s the American government forced thousands of native Americans to abandon their past lives, traditions, beliefs and cultures to better fit in with the majority. Another example of Transculturation is when somebody immigrates to a new culture and has to understand and get used to the culture of their new home. This happens to pretty much every immigrant.
Adaptive Mechanism
An example of Adaptive Mechanism would be migration. This is how humans became so dominant. Around 1.8 Million years ago, the first people began to migrate out of Africa into Western Asia, This allowed people to live in environments that do not have as harsh conditions as south-west Africa, where humans originate.
